To our beloved mother 'Istanbul'
for every smile that was cast on this street
The theory that habitat defines the species is awfully true.. The sensation fills you the second you set foot on the street. You are one in 20.000.000 people and this time your parents arent holding your hand. The code for survival is instinctive, your posture and language follow.
In time you learn tricks, in time your tricks define you.. Within a hundred feet radius of a shiny YSL store there are over 30 people from 10 different racial backgrounds and are all willing to cut you open for your shoes.. You gotta stick together..
In time you feel posessive of the city, in time the city posesses you... Your friends know which street to find you.. The city is over 3000 years old yet it feels like a simple fractal pattern- a basic 'feel' -and its astonishing to see how many time your guess fails.. bitter smile. The city smiles back at you, your mother.
If these walls could talk...
(btw: Istanbul is a city settled at the connection point of the Asian and European sides of the Republic of Turkey. It has served as a capital to a large number of 'countries' including Eastern Roman Empire (Byzentine) and the Ottomans) The city is approximately 3000 years old (The first time someone built something there) and the population is estimated to be around 20.000.000. THe canal running in the middle connects the Meditteranean Sea and the Black Sea....
The colours, the shapes, and the feel of this piece is fantastic! I love how all the people are sort of silhouetted, such a sharp contrast against the colour and yet they seem to fade into it as well. Beautifully done .

I love your work. it has the texture of a Klimer, but yet it also has the consistency of a comic scene and a lovely aura of antique-ness. I guess I can just it... Keep up the wonderful work.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
